ello, I'm Sweet Mary the owner of Sweet Mary's Cakes and Pastries. I'm a self-taught baker and cake artist. I have worked in the food industry for 15 years. Working in many different establishments from pizza places to running the kitchens at a small café and bakeries. I did this all while pursuing a career in art, my passion since I could hold a pencil. I graduated Community College of Philadelphia with an Associates in Art and continued my education at Temple. My love of baking started at a very young age, watching my grandfather create meals and treats for his large family. He would always make the birthday boy or girl make their own cake. Sounds rough, but there standing next to my Pop-Pop mixing the batter that would later be enjoyed by everyone, I realized that I loved him and the time we were sharing. I watched as my family would sing happy birthday to me, my smile was that of an accomplished young girl. There my passion for baking began. To think a small gesture such as having cake on your birthday could become my career is a dream. I learned a lot from my Pop-Pop over the years we were blessed to have him, but first and foremost I learned about the importance of family. I have a large immediate family with 8 brothers and sister and it's always someone's birthday, holidays or a special occasion that brings us together. Nothing brings as much joy, anticipation, and wow factor as the dessert. The more celebrations, the better I became at making one of a kind edible works of art. My family and friends would marvel at my creations and urged me to pursue a career as a cake artist. With My love of all things sweet, a passion for art and the support of my family and friends, Sweet Mary's Cakes and Pastries was born. I promise to treat you like family and always give you the best cake you and your guests have ever seen or tasted.
